This exciting new summer camp is full of hands on activities that are bound to thrill and amaze any child interested in our marine world. Based in the National Sea Life Centre in Bray, the children will be introduced to a whole host of sea creatures, including baby sharks, rays, starfish, crabs and giant octopus.
They will also get a chance to discover nature outdoors with our enthusiastic and experienced team of marine biologists. Planned outdoor activities include a rockpooling trip, sand castle competition and birdwatching trip. This course is likely to book up quickly so book early to avoid disappointment!
The camp includes:
- entrance to the National Sea Life Centre with a guided tour of the aquarium,
- a touchpool containing live sea creatures, including starfish, shrimp, anemones, crabs and sea snails,
- a rockpooling trip to Sandycove (weather permitting) including a lesson on how to recognise and identify animals and seaweeds,
- a beach trip and sand castle competition,
- a birdwatching trip to Bray Head with good quality binoculars and a spotting scope,
- arts and crafts activities,
- a follow up education pack with posters, stickers, worksheets and quizzes,
- qualified marine biologists to answer all those awkward questions!
- participation in our shark and ray conservation projects, eg. Purse Search Ireland.
Logistics: Suitable for 8-12yr olds. Children will need to bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing for field trips (more information provided on registration).
